…creating things of beauty
I am a designer-maker using the technique of knitting with coloured copper and Sterling silver wire to create unique and contemporary jewellery. Using a mixture of glass beads and sequins, semi-precious stones, freshwater pearls and Swarovski crystals I have created a range of pendants, bracelets and earrings. The jewellery pieces are delicate and intricate in appearance and are very light to wear but the knitted wire means they are strong and flexible.
My work often features recycling old or broken pieces of jewellery: examples include reinventing a simple string of pearls as a contemporary pendant; and transforming a broken amethyst bracelet into a new one knitted on silver wire.
As well as jewellery, I also create vibrant hair accessories, tea-light holders, gift cards, dream-catcher cards with wishes in Panjabi (my mother tongue); and I produce larger items on commission including lampshades and ensembles. I am constantly developing new designs and am currently working towards creating larger, more sculptural pieces for exhibition.
The slide show on my home page shows just a few of the items that I have produced so far, but I am always happy to create a personalised piece to suit your particular needs: perhaps for a special occasion or to match a particular outfit. If you would like to take a closer look at my work, or discuss a commission, please feel free to contact me. You can see me in person on the third Saturday of every month at the Telegraph Hill Craft Collective and I also show my work at various other events — you can check for details here.
